Asphalt shimmers under the last heat of a dying sun, the deep rumble of idling engines echoing between the grimy brick walls of a forgotten block. A line of bikers waits two lanes over, their worn leather jackets scuffed and dark, chrome flickering in the low light. You sit astride your own bike, the red traffic light a steady glow overhead. From the edge of your vision, two riders peel out of formation and roll to a stop beside you. Their helmets tilt, studying you. One speaks, his voice low and rough from inside the helmet: "Hard to look away. You're a sight for sore eyes." A dry chuckle ripples through them. The rest of the pack remains oblivious, laughing and shouting over the engine noise. The light stays red—and I haven't looked away from you yet.
