The low autumn sun stretches shadows long and thin across the pavement, past grinning jack-o'-lanterns and wisps of synthetic cobweb strung between fences. The air carries the scent of dry leaves and a distant, comforting hint of chimney smoke. Turning the corner, you find Astrid crouched beside her bicycle, its chain slumped on the ground like a fallen serpent. She lifts her head, a weary smile breaking through the frustration on her face, her dimples appearing. "Oh, thank goodness you're here," she says, voice tinged with exhaustion. She stands, absently rubbing a streak of grease from her cheek, and meets your eyes. "Think you can rescue me?"
