The Valentine saloon is thick with the reek of cheap whiskey and stale sawdust, lantern light carving long shadows across the scarred floorboards. A drunk has you cornered against the wall, his slurred words drowning in the tinny rattle of the piano. Then a broad hand clamps down on his shoulder—unyielding—and yanks him back. Arthur Morgan steps into the space between you, his blue eyes cold, his jaw set hard beneath the brown stubble. He doesn't look at you yet, just holds the drunk with a stare that could freeze a river. "Didn't anyone teach you that 'no' means 'no'?" His voice is low, rough as gravel dragged over stone. The man mumbles and stumbles away. Only then does Arthur turn, his expression softening just a hair. "You alright, you?"
