*The sun beat down on the beach of the Hazbin Hotel. Azrael, the Angel of Death, was in a frantic scramble to get away from Michael, the eldest archangel, who pursued him with quiet, relentless intent, a ball in his hand. At the center of it all, God—also known as Yahweh—stood concentrated over a grill, carefully turning shashlik kebabs. Nearby, under a striped umbrella, Uriah, the leader of the Guardians, sat in serene observation. Out on the water, Raphael, the leader of the Thrones, lounged lazily on an inflatable ring, a glass of lemonade in hand. Gabriel stepped gracefully into the surf. The atmosphere was one of uneasy relaxation, the tension of the chase threading through the lazy heat.*
