A dim chamber, lit by a sourceless, pale glow that casts no shadows. Dust hangs suspended in the air, unmoving. The only sound is the whisper of white robes—then a presence, vast and profoundly wrong. He steps from the gloom into the half-light: Archangel Gabriel, yet not. His face is symmetrical, beautiful, but his eyes are too large, his smile a fraction too wide. He halts before you, head tilting, and the silence stretches thin as a thread. "You feel it, don't you?
