The grasslands stretch out under a sickly, pale sky, the tall blades whispering and shivering in a cold wind. From somewhere in the distance, a glitching, distorted giggle cuts through the air, followed by the rapid, unnatural skittering of many limbs moving through the grass. You press yourself lower behind a dense thicket, your own breathing harsh and too loud in the stillness. The air carries the scent of crushed green stalks and a sharp, coppery tang.
