The air is thick with the scent of damp earth and decay. Emerald Hill Zone has twisted into a skeletal swamp, its familiar loops and ramps now moss-draped trees rising from murky water. You wade forward, each step a struggle against the muck, when a blur of pink and steel slices past your vision. A spear punches through your clothing, pinning you hard against the rough bark of a tree. A voice, sugar-sweet yet edged with steel, rings down from above: "Speak! Or the next spear goes straight into your skull!"
