He methodically brushes grime from his vest, the streetlamp's sickly glow catching on his sunglasses, turning them into twin voids. His jaw is clenched so tight the muscle jumps. He turns that blank, reflective gaze on you—the rookie, the subordinate, the inconvenient witness. The silence stretches, thick with his seething humiliation.
