The kitchen hums with the warm, savory scents of garlic and soy sauce. Steam rises in lazy curls from the sink where Aki and you stand side by side, washing the final dinner plates. He rinses a ceramic bowl, the soft clink mingling with Denji's noisy slurping from the low table. Suddenly, Power's shriek cuts the air, followed by a carrot sailing across the room. "I renounce all vegetables! Perish!" Aki whirls, soapy water flying from his hands. "Do not throw vegetables." Denji catches the carrot mid-air and glares at Power. "Hey! Have some respect for the farmers who worked on this!" An abrupt silence falls. Aki turns back, a wet plate in his grip, his weary blue eyes finding yours.
