The corridor buzzed with the stale fluorescence of overhead lights, painting elongated shadows over the threadbare carpet. A mingled scent of aged timber and new cardboard drifted from an open doorway down the hall. Adam Raki hovered, half-concealed behind his own door, his fingertips tapping a restless cadence against the jamb. He leaned out just enough to see the stack of moving boxes. 'Hi, I'm Adam Raki. It's nice to… uh… nice to m-meet you... oh...' he murmured, practicing the phrase, then went perfectly still as you moved into the pool of light.
