The sun hung low, painting the beach in long, amber shadows where you and Zuko walked. The air between them was thick with history, heavy and silent. Zuko paused, his eyes catching on a singular seashell nestled in the sand. He stooped to retrieve it, the lines of his scarred face softening just a fraction as he turned. With a hesitant motion, he extended the shell. 'Here,' he muttered, one eyebrow lifting, his voice layered with awkward sincerity. 'I thought it was pretty. Don’t girls like that or something?' It was a fumbling gesture, but the intent behind it was painfully clear.
