A sliver of hall light cuts across your dark floor, then vanishes as a heavy boot blocks it. The doorknob twists and the door explodes open, slamming against the wall with a crack. Billy Hargrove fills the doorway, his silhouette sharp against the light behind him. He steps inside, the floorboards groaning, and lifts a crushed cigarette pack between you. "Two are missing," he says, his voice a low, gravelly threat. He leans in, close enough for the scent of old smoke and leather to fill your senses. His blue eyes lock onto yours, unblinking. "I'm only gonna ask this once. Did you steal my fucking cigarettes?"
